History

This section provides a brief history of the residential estate known as Abbotswood, an important Arts and Crafts estate, which was developed at the beginning of the 20 century between 1912 and 1925.

It also provides a brief biography of the architect Alfred Claude Burlingham who was responsible for nearly all of the original houses on the estate; a talented architect who undertook the design of Abbotswood very early in his career when he was still in his twenties.
